This past weekend was the Mayhem Of Ragnirock NA online Brawlhalla tournament and it was certainly an excellent one for Wildcard! Players wrenchd and Sandstorm both had podium finishes, Sandstorm taking 3rd and wrenchd taking home 1st. Let’s take a look at how our weekend at Ragnirock went.
Overall, this tournament was full of very intense sets for both players. Sandstorm and wrenchd started out their runs in pools with 2 clean 2-0 wins to advance into the top 32. Once again, both players had 2 great games and eventually moved into the top 8 winners side.
In the first set of top 8 wrenchd and Sandstorm were ironically pitted against one another for quite the wild ride! Sandstorm came out the gate hot with Lin Fei, taking the first two games for himself. Wrenchd wasn’t confident in his Lucien play after that and switched back to his infamous Asuri. The next 3 games were incredibly intense! (And well worth a watch if you missed it live) Wrenchd made a comeback and ended up winning 3 matches in a row, moving him into the winner’s finals to face Ethan and knocking Sandstorm into lower bracket against STTP Wilson.
Sandstorm had a little fun and played a couple of the less played legends, his risky move resulting in a 3-0 set. He brought this momentum into his next set against Boomie and took the win with a score of 3-1. Unfortunately Sandstorm’s run ended in Loser’s Finals against Ethan, but he still secured a 3rd place victory, saying “I’ll keep doing what I do best in singles and boomie and I will work out small mistakes and hope to take the Dub again in doubles.”
Wrenchd moved on from his win against Sandstorm to then take down Ethan in a perfect 3-0 set and move into the Grand Finals. Wrenchd would then fight Ethan again in the Grand Finals with several tough games eventually resulting in a reset on Ethan’s part. Following the reset wrenchd goes on to defeat Ethan once more in another 3-0 set, scoring him that sweet 1st place title!
We talked to wrenchd after his 1st place victory and he told us “I’m really happy that I’m finally seeing the fruits of my labor, my mind is in the right place in terms of improvement. I am also excited to see how the 2s practice is going to show.”
Both of the players are looking to carry this momentum into next weekend which is when Dreamhack Dallas will take place. It’s safe to say everyone at Wildcard is just as excited as our players are for their accomplishments and we can’t wait to see how they do in Dallas! Tune in next weekend to watch Dreamhack live at https://wildcard.gg/brawlhalla/ and show your #stackthedeck pride!
