As we continue to move into 2020 Wildcard will be fleshing out our decks for the year and let me tell you- They’re looking pretty stacked. We’re happy to announce our PUBG roster- Saying hello to some familiar names and welcoming some new ones! We’ve brought back fan favorites, Kickstart and Sharpshot and we’re pumped to introduce Keenan and Wooly, formally from Soniqs. This is a scary group of extremely talented players and we can not wait to see what they’re capable of together.
As always, we sat down to chat with the new team and pick their brains on their positions and the current Pro League. Here’s what they had to say!
Welcome to Wildcard! And for Kickstart and Sharpshot, welcome back! Are you guys excited to be part of the team?
Kickstart: Yeah, I’m excited to be back again and I think this time it will probably be the strongest team we’ve had.
Keenan: I’m very excited to be apart of this team and org, and I look forward to our future success.
Wooly: Yes, this team will be nuts! I’m really thankful for this opportunity and very excited to be playing with these guys.
Sharpshot: Hell Yeah!
How long have you been playing PUBG for?
Kickstart: I’ve been playing since May 2017, pretty much the very start. I played in all of the very first tournaments in pubg (PUBG Online) etc. Over 5k hours!
Keenan: I’ve been playing since 2018. Started competitive in September of 2018.
Wooly: Since June 2017, started really early grinding leaderboards back in the day around the same time as kick.
Sharpshot: Since it came out back in 2017.
What are some goals for this year?
Kickstart: My goals would be to win every tournament. No matter how many tournaments you win there will always be more to win.
Keenan: Outplace Soniqs. Make the global and compete against the best in the world.
Wooly: I really just want to get back to a global event- Once we’re there, why not us? But we have to get there first!
Sharpshot: Goals are to make it to Berlin and GLL then go from there! Also outplace Soniqs.
What are some placements or achievements you’re really proud of?
Kickstart: Going to multiple LANs, Dreamhack Austin – GLL s2, GLL s3, NPL Phase 3.
Keenan: Qualifying for NPL by winning Phase 2 Relegations is something I’m very proud of. Playing well at my first ever LAN, NPL Phase 1 Relegations is also something I am proud of.
Wooly: Winning the NPL preseason qualifier with Simplicity, as well as getting 8th in Phase 3 with Soniqs.
Sharpshot: 1st place WSOE and top fragger for the tournament! Also 1st Place NPL Phase 3! Also making to the finals of PGC!
What are your thoughts on the competition this Phase?
Kickstart: The competition is honestly getting easier now because it’s open quals and some teams do get RNGd.
Keenan: I expect us to be one of the top five teams in NA and make the global. We have the potential to be one of, if not the best team in NA.
Wooly: Different parts of some elite teams are coming back, a lot of good players retired or went to EU- NA still has a lot of talent though. STK is the only team that didn’t make changes and they do so many things well.
Sharpshot: In NA I think the competition is going to be very different with all the roster shuffles. Lots of new teams in the mix with different play styles but as far as other regions I think they are going to be cracked!
When you’re not playing PUBG what’re you playing?
Kickstart: Mostly just play other games. (Writers Note: Kick is scary good at whatever he picks up. This vague answer terrifies me.)
Keenan: A small amount of WoW, maybe 5 hours a week. I play pretty much only PUBG. It’s the only game/job I really care about.
Wooly: I don’t play many games outside of PUBG, but I grew up playing a lot of RTS games (Age of Empires 2, Warcraft 3). Played a lot of Insurgency Source and Battlefield 2 in the past as well, super fun FPS games.
Sharpshot: Probably Escape From Tarkov.
Here’s a question I’ll ask you again in the future to see how your opinions change. The four of you are on a sinking ship: Who takes control, who is the pessimist, who is the optimist, and who drowns?
Kickstart: Sharp drowns instantly because he got tunneled on the sharks. Wooly takes control, Keenan is the optimist, and I’m the pessimist cause we are all dead anyway.
Keenan: Wooly takes control, I’m the optimist, Sharp and Kick drown in each others arms with sad expressions on their faces.
Wooly: Keenan is probably optimistic, I’m making sure we get off the ship. Not sure who can swim better between kick and sharp, I’d guess sharp since he lives in Florida…
Sharpshot: Wooly takes control, Kickstart is the pessimist, Keenan is optimist and I drown feelsbad.
Anything you’d like to say to your fans and followers?
Kickstart: Thanks for following me no matter what time I’m on, and always supporting me whether that be watching my streams or just checking in on me every now and then.
Keenan: Thanks for all the support! Competing in PUBG is my dream, and without the support of my family, friends, teammates, and org, it wouldn’t be possible. I’m not gonna stop until I have a chance to win a world event.
Wooly: I really appreciate the people who have always supported me through both the best and worst times. It’s awesome that wildcard is giving us this chance. I’m trying to focus on my health and to better myself as a player. I’ll work as hard as possible and try to be the best leader I can to make this team successful!
Sharpshot: Hey guys! hope you’re all as excited for the 2020 PUBG season with me and Kickstart back on Wildcard with Wooly and Keenan! #stackthedeck
